2012 World End – Skeptic Has A Change Of Heart

It sounds like something out of a Hollywood movie: On a certain day in a certain year at a certain time the world is going to end, or at least change in a fairly significant way, and the catastrophic event was prophesied by ancient civilizations that drew future stories on damp cave walls. From the producers who brought you Men in Black comes 2012: World End, starring 2 tired A-listers and a pretty ingenue.

Though that would certainly be one half of this story, this doomsday-to-come, that it’s something to be laughed at and droned on about on conspiracy blogs, the flipside to the world ending in 2012 is that, if we’re not quite so literal, and we sprinkle the situation with a bit of cold, hard science, then we have indications that something, some thing or event may take place in the near future that changes all of our lives.

A few months ago, mention of solar flares or holes in magnetic shields had as much effect on me as watered-down scotch. But that was before I read some fascinating books and articles on the subject. Did you know NASA scientists have reported the possibility of a solar flare reaching our planet’s weakened magnetic shield and wiping out all power grids? What if in an instant – woosh – all power is gone? There is absolutely no power of any kind? No phones or faxes or computers or TVs or coffee makers or cash registers or refrigerators or air conditioners or space heaters, hospital equipment… you get the idea.

We’ve recently seen such horror strike Haiti, and witnessed mass destruction and no real infrastructure to govern and oversee the rescue efforts. But there are other nations who can step in and help. Now imagine a world where we are all Haiti. No governments or real resources, no way to run and rule the people, possibly for months. Who will take charge and govern us all? Is it possible we could govern ourselves?

Being a glass-is-half-who-cares kind of a person, I would put my money against the human race in 2012. Sure we can all come together when there’s an earthquake or another disease holds a telethon, but no doubt 2012 will turn into an international remake of Lord of the Flies. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe this galactic horror that has been predicted by brilliant people in loin cloths is our opportunity to shine. Maybe this is our one shot at getting it right? Maybe if we all pull together i

In one type or another, all religions and philosophies have taught about the ultimate destiny of man, society, and the cosmos as they do about the first things or origins. Many are bibical. The one receiving attention lately is the Mayan Long Count Calendar. It works out the date of creation as Aug 11,3114 B.C. The calendar is 5,125 years old ending on December 21,2012.

This date has caused various people to decide that the year 2012 is the end of the planet in prediction. Presumably the Mayas received their astronomical calculations from “Kulcan”. Kulcan was described as a white man with a beard from beyond the ocean. Some of the people believe the Maya were predicting the end of a cycle and the start of a new cycle.

The Hopi, a native american tribe that lives in Arizona accept that the world has stopped many times. They suspect we are approaching the newest “End” and “Beginning” which is to come.

Here are the 2012 prophecies: a collision with the earth from a large object from space. It might be Nibiru or Planet X. If Nibiru moves through our solar system the gravitational pull might cause the polar ice caps to slide significantly. This event would cause large changes on the earth. Where there was water, the surface could end up dry and other areas of land could be flooded. Many scholars think the shifting of the polar ice cap would be slow,taking a long period of time.

The reversal of the north and south poles are claimed to lead to quakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. The north and south poles can’t change position only the magnetic poles which typically take thousands of years.

A Gamma-ray burst from a distant supernova that would destroy the world .

A worldwide nuclear war destroying the earth.

Massive extinctions due to natural phenomenon.

A flare-up of the sun causing catastrophes, planetary harm, weakened magnetic poles and too much radiation.

The cosmic alignment of the Milky Way universe with the sun and earth causing an unknown event to occur.

12 21 2012, or December 21 2012 is a date associated with the end of the world. This date, 12 21 2012, comes mainly from the long count of the Mayan calendar. The Mayans for reasons unknown were very advanced in the study of astronomy. Their calendar is really several calendars in one. The calendar known as the long count is the one that notes 12 21 2012 as the end of the earth as we know it.

The reason for this date is pretty complicated. On December 21, 2012 or 12 21 2012, for the first time in 26000 years, the sun will conjunct the milky way, and the elliptical plane.

There are many theories as to what exactly will happen on 12 21 2012. Many feel that solar flare activity will increase dramatically and that a huge solar flare will strike the earth causing destruction. You may have heard a lot about December 2012 as doomsday, but there are actually two schools of thoughts.

Age of Enlightenment

One school of thought believes that 2012 will be an age of enlightenment, people’s consciousness will rise. Our vibrations will be higher and we will become a more advanced species.

The other more widespread belief of course is that December 2012 is doomsday as it is the physical end of the Mayan calender.

Those that believe this theory hypothesize that several things may occur. A mysterious Planet X will crash into the planet earth, in which case survival is almost near impossible as Earth would most likely explode. Many scientists scoff at this idea.

Others say that the shift in the axis of the world will large major disasters including tsunamis, large tidal waves 1km high or higher, super volcanoes (there are 7 in the world – Yellowstone Park, Wyoming, USA has one of them), volcanoes, earthquakes and nuclear meltdowns. Electricity would be wiped out, fires would break out and floods would be widespread.

The most dangerous countries to live based on these notions are United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Australia. Africa being one of the safest countries as there are little fault lines, little volcanoes and only 2 nuclear plants. Other possible safe havens are Madagascar, high mountains of Spain (danger of nuclear fall-out), high mountains of Turkey, Atlas mountains Morocco and the highlands of Ethiopia in Africa.

Basic survival skills would definitely need to be learned and the proper equipment purchased such as waterproof matches, a tent, an unsinkable boat, rope, first aid kit, knife, hunting gear, plastic containers, blankets, candles…etc.

A new movie came out just in time for the holidays based on the end of the world happening in 2012. If the world is going to end soon, there seems to be no way of exactly predicting when or how it will happen. Who knows? Planet earth may continue well beyond our lifetimes. Or all of us may be living on borrowed time, unaware of impending disaster. Whichever way things are going, we have no personal control over the outcome, although some will argue we can influence it. What we can do is live our lives in the best way possible and enjoy each moment. If the end of the world came today, would you be satisfied with the way you spent your life? Surviving 2012, Rules You Must Follow To Protect Your Family
