It is only tax-payers money again, the entire £600millionGB for this security operation.
If this budget is in any way justified by the threat, why hold the Olympics at all?
As a compromise, the entire games could be televised, thereby alleviating the necessity for all those live spectators. Live spectators could effectively be banned, thereby reducing the security expense, gimendously.
The terrorist were able to create such havoc on 9/11, with only 2 aircraft. Do they have plans already in place to “consume” 6, or even 8 aircraft at the Olympics. They have long since shown more than adequate proof of their skills/technology.
Remember, these aircraft could be “dispatched” from almost any country in the entire world, possibly with a perfectly legitimate destination at any 1 of so many airports within 100 mile radius ot the games. This would give traffic control little, or no warning of any problem.
Even if it were possible to shoot 1 down, this would occur over extreme densely populated territory.
If the Olympics are such an expensive luxury, can we afford this risk, let alone the £600millionGB for a completely futile security operation.
This money would be far better spent on education, hopefully a long term improvement for the hard pressed NHS. It would obviously provide and improve employment, on a long term basis.
Do we really wish to train so many more thousand Rambo's, who would inevitbly only enjoy very short term employment prospects therefrom.
In the worst case scenario, would the hospitals, and other emergency services be able to cope, with such a major holocaust!
How will the already extremely oversubscribed traffic, parking and public transport system cope. These morons have obviously not thought it out, whatsoever.
They possibly believe that someone else, somewhere, will MAKE it work, somehow, at any price, even at 3 times the budget.
